




DESCRIPTION **LOCATION:** Ireland **SECTOR:** Pharmaceutical industry, data centers, commercial, etc. **AVAILABILITY:** January 2024 The civil and structural engineer will primarily be responsible for interacting with clients and suppliers, and collaborating with the Project Manager and project teams to review and manage projects from initiation through to delivery. The selected candidate may work on rotation across various European projects, which implies extensive travel. **FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Collaborate with project managers during design development through to construction phase to ensure proposed service support systems comply with all regulations and requirements. Carry out preliminary designs and design checks of proposed support systems, including secondary steel structures, their attachments to primary structures, and secondary fixings and supports. Assess that the loading impact of the secondary steel structure remains within the capacity of the primary structure and its components. Conduct temporary works design in collaboration with the site’s Temporary Works Coordinator and third parties. Coordinate installation of services: placement of air handling units or other large equipment on roofs over atriums. Collaborate with the construction phase supervisor and site safety officer regarding design elements. Compile all design work for formal checking by the project’s structural engineer or an external designer. Ensure written design confirmation is received and properly archived. Liaise with the PM to ensure quality assurance requirements related to design work are met. Review construction drawings for design elements requiring development and verification. Liaise with the design team and project coordinator to ensure necessary information (required by the construction team) is prioritized (when needed) and issued according to the construction schedule. Assist the PM in clearly establishing design responsibility with subcontractors at the time of appointment and carry out required design checks in a timely manner. Attend site meetings, internal project reviews, engineering reviews, planning and coordination meetings, and handover meetings as necessary to fulfill the role. Close out all project elements on time according to agreed deadlines. Issue monthly reports to the Project Lead on all design tasks being carried out or completed for the project. Develop and implement company procedures with project managers. Verify that builder works shown on construction drawings do not compromise the primary structure, advise the Project Structural Engineer accordingly, and obtain their formal approval. **REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE** Degree in Civil and Structural Engineering Minimum of 3 years of design experience required Essential experience in steel structures, prefabrication, modularization, or services. Strong knowledge of mathematics and computer skills, familiar with design software and load capacity data sources. Knowledge of technical and feasibility studies for construction, including site investigations. Knowledge of structural details and required calculations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
