\*EVALUATION TESTS FOR PHYSICAL APTITUDE FOR ACCESS\*
Below are described the physical tests to be performed by candidates applying for positions within the GREA; the objective is to assess candidates’ physical aptitude for accessing the service. Candidates must successfully complete the following physical tests:
Candidates applying for the positions of “Emergency Agent”, “Shift Supervisor”, and “Agent Coordinator” must perform the following physical tests. The order of execution shall follow the sequence described below, although it may be modified due to organizational constraints or facility availability.
ADAPTATION TO THE AQUATIC ENVIRONMENT
1\. OBJECTIVE: Assess the candidate’s overall aptitude in aquatic environments.
2\. PROCEDURE: Starting from the platform, prepared to dive and perform the test, the examiner will count: “One, two…” “Go”, and upon this signal, the candidate shall jump into the water and swim 50 meters in a round-trip course, using any stroke permitted under the rules. At the midpoint of the course, the candidate shall submerge and retrieve a ring from the pool bottom, then place it on the pool edge.
3\. RULES:
+ The start shall be executed from the platform upon the examiner’s signal.
+ The 50-meter course shall be swum using any stroke.
+ To retrieve the ring, the candidate may only submerge after completing the outbound leg.
+ The ring must be placed on the pool edge.
+ After placing the ring on the pool edge, the candidate may push off with feet and hands to complete the return leg.
+ The test ends when the candidate touches the pool wall upon arrival.
+ At no point during execution is holding onto the lane rope, overflow gutter, or any other object permitted.
+ Time taken to complete the test shall be measured in seconds and tenths of seconds.
+ Two attempts are allowed, recording the better time.
+ Given the nature of this test, only after its completion will the examiner determine whether the candidate has completed the course according to the specifications outlined herein.
+ Null Attempt: An attempt is considered null if the course is completed in violation of any of the above rules.
BARROW TEST:
1\. OBJECTIVE: Assess the agility of movement of the candidate.
2\. PROCEDURE: Starting position: Standing beside the pole and behind the starting line.
Execution: Complete the figure-eight circuit, delimited by five poles, twice—four poles marking the vertices of an 8.66 m × 5 m rectangle and the fifth positioned at the center (as shown in the graphical description)—in the shortest possible time. First complete loop A, then loop B, as illustrated in the diagram.
3\. RULES:
+ An attempt is null if the candidate knocks over any pole.
+ An attempt is null if the candidate grasps any pole to prevent it from falling.
+ An attempt is null if the candidate deviates from the prescribed path, i.e., crosses or exceeds the ideal running line (even if returning to the correct path).
+ Two attempts are allowed for the circuit.
+ The interval between the first and second attempt shall not exceed 5\-10 seconds.
+ Timing ends when the candidate crosses the starting line again.
+ Total execution time equals the sum of times for both loops (A\+B).
PULL-UPS ON FIXED BAR:
1\. OBJECTIVE: Assess upper-body relative strength of male candidates.
2\. PROCEDURE: Starting from a fully extended hanging position on the bar, palms facing forward. From this initial position, perform repetitions where the chin rises above the top edge of the bar and elbows fully extend when lowering.
3\. RULES:
+ Chin must rise above the top edge of the bar.
+ Elbows must fully extend when lowering.
+ Swinging is prohibited.
+ Leg movements used for assistance are prohibited.
+ Only one attempt is allowed.
ISOMETRIC HOLD ON FIXED BAR:
1\. OBJECTIVE: Assess isometric strength of female candidates.
2\. PROCEDURE:
Phase I. The candidate hangs from the fixed bar. Grip may be either overhand or underhand, with hand spacing approximately shoulder-width. The body must be fully extended.
Phase II. The candidate lifts the body by bending the arms until the chin and chest clear the bar height without touching it. If deemed necessary, assistance from a partner or bench may be used to achieve the required position. From the initial bent-arm position, the candidate must maintain tension without allowing the chin to touch the bar. The time the candidate correctly maintains the bent-arm position—until the chin drops below the bar level—is recorded.
3\. RULES: Touching the bar with the chin, placing feet on the ground, or swinging the body is prohibited.
COOPER TEST:
1\. OBJECTIVE: Assess medium-duration maximal aerobic capacity.
2\. PROCEDURE: Upon the signal, the candidate must run on flat, smooth terrain covering the maximum possible distance within a total time of 12 minutes.
3\. RULES: The candidate must remain running throughout the test.
