In our hotels, runners collaborate across all departments to ensure both guests and colleagues have exactly what they need—exactly when and where they need it. Whether delivering items directly to guests in their rooms or supporting housekeeping, engineering, banquets, restaurants, front office, or other areas requiring assistance, runners do whatever it takes to achieve the goal. They are essential to the hotel’s success. In any role, certain fundamentals are critical to success—for example, maintaining a safe workplace, adhering to company policies and procedures, respecting confidentiality, protecting company assets, upholding quality standards, and ensuring professional appearance, attire, and communication at all times. Runners are constantly on the move—they stand, sit, and walk extensively, and perform a wide variety of tasks (including navigating confined spaces, elevated areas, stairs, and service ramps). They must have everything needed to perform their job effectively (e.g., ability to read and interpret information from diverse formats—including small print; inspect tools, equipment, or machinery); and must be hands-on (moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, and placing objects weighing up to 55 pounds unassisted; reaching overhead, kneeling, twisting, stretching, and bending). It is essential that runners perform their duties to the best of their ability—and undertake any other reasonable tasks requested—to ensure guest stay success and our business success.
