Description
We are seeking a **Quality Engineer** for our facilities in Gijón, whose primary responsibility is to ensure that products, processes, and services comply with the company's established quality standards, legal regulations, and customer expectations, thereby contributing to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
The candidate will work collaboratively with the quality team and production teams to achieve product quality excellence and provide necessary technical support.
Key responsibilities include:
* **Developing, implementing, and maintaining quality management systems** (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and other applicable standards), managing associated technical and quality documentation.
* **Comprehensively monitoring product quality throughout the manufacturing process**, including evaluation of results, laboratory testing, material release, and shipment prioritization.
* **Analyzing process data and quality results**, determining product quality judgments and identifying improvement opportunities to optimize performance and final quality.
* **Statistically controlling and analyzing product quality**, tracking internal and external indicators, and evaluating information obtained both at the plant and at customer sites.
* **Managing incidents, non-conformities, and customer complaints**, leading root cause analysis and defining, implementing, and overseeing corrective and preventive actions.
* **Driving continuous quality improvement and customer satisfaction**, through analysis of incidents, complaints, processability data, and associated action plans.
* **Managing material downgrades, reapplications, and concessions**, as well as tracking semi-finished and finished product stock levels.
* **Analyzing customer specifications and technical requirements**, assessing manufacturing feasibility, potential cost overruns, and suitability of processes and test methods.
* **Interpreting technical standards and applicable international standards for steel materials**, developing and updating quality designs, technical standards, and test procedures.
* **Participating in the development, validation, and qualification of new products and processes**, including design, monitoring, and evaluation of industrial trials.
* **Providing technical support to customers and closely collaborating with production, quality, R\+D, and product development departments**, as well as with other group plants.
* **Participating in internal and external audits, R\+D projects, and activities related to safety, health, and environment**, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Product Quality department
* Familiarity with sector-specific standards and best practices
* Proficiency in quality tools (5W, 8D, Ishikawa, FMEA) and MS Office
* Fluency in English (B2 level or higher)
* Experience in industrial environments
* Analytical and solution-oriented profile, results-driven and customer-focused; ability to work effectively in teams and communicate/collaborate across departments
* Valid work and residence permit in Spain
Desirable: Occupational Health and Safety training
