You will work on real\-time software products that help balance the electric grid and connect physical assets (e.g., **batteries**, **renewable parks**) to forecasters and optimizers to improve optimisation results. You will join a context where software teams analyse, design, develop, maintain and support products focused on **real\-time services**, including low\-latency streaming and dispatching components. In this role, you will work **2 days per week onsite in Brussels** and the rest remotely, collaborating closely with **functional analysts**, **domain experts**, and technical teams in an international environment. For this role, **relocation to Brussels (Belgium) is mandatory** for candidates living far from the area, or the ability to **commute regularly**. **Languages required:** **English fluent** due to daily interactions with teams and stakeholders. **French or Dutch is a plus.** **YOUR TASKS** -------------- As **Senior Software Developer and Architect**, you will: * Provide technical guidance to development (team of **3–5 people**). * Guide discussions with **functional analysts** and **domain experts**. * Design and document **architectural proposals** (diagrams), including **APIs**, services, and **front\-end/back\-end interactions**. * Improve delivery practices and overall team effectiveness. You will supervise the team to ensure the following activities are delivered: * Break down proposals into **agile progressive development upgrades**. * Implement builds and associated **testing** and **maintenance tools**. * Develop **back\-end services** and **APIs**. * Write tests in collaboration with business colleagues. * Document and develop **user manuals**. * Provide **user assistance and support**. * Monitor systems and provide **L2 support**, incident resolution and troubleshooting (**root causes** of recurring incidents). **YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE** ------------------------------ ### **Must\-have** * **6\+ years** of software engineering with **technical design and architecture responsibilities**. * Strong capability for **technical / complex analysis** (components include complex technical features). * Proficiency in **.NET**. * Proficiency in **Python**, including **async programming** and **performance\-oriented design**. * Proven experience designing and operating **event\-driven architectures** (**Kafka**, **Azure Event Hub**, or **MQTT**). * Strong understanding of **distributed systems** concepts (**scalability**, **fault tolerance**, **backpressure**, **ordering**, **idempotency**). * Hands\-on experience with **Kubernetes in production** (deployments, autoscaling). * Experience with **Redis** (stateful systems / caching use cases). * Strong testing culture: **unit tests**, **integration tests**, **production validation**. * Production\-grade **observability**: **metrics**, **logging**, **alerting** (e.g., **Grafana**, **Prometheus**, or equivalent). * Familiarity with **Agile** development practices. ### **Nice\-to\-have / stack exposure (plus)** * **Azure** and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., **Bicep**). * Familiarity with parts of the stack: **AKS**, **Azure Functions**, **Azure Service Bus**, **PostgreSQL**, **Azure Data Explorer**, **GitHub Actions / CI/CD**. * Experience with **Scala** or **Rust** is a plus. * **Polytechnic engineering Master’s degree** (or equivalent) is a strong plus. **EXTRA INFORMATION** --------------------- * **Location:** **Brussels, Belgium** (relocation mandatory if living far / or ability to commute regularly) * **Work model:** **Hybrid** \- **2 days onsite / 3 days remote** * **Preferred start date:** **02/03/2026** * **Contract duration:** **1 year**, extendable for **2 more years** (max 3 years) * **Contract type:** **Freelance** * **Languages:** **English fluent**, **French or Dutch is a plus** * **Daily rate range:** **€520–€545/day** (all\-in; depending on profile/experience, within the project budget cap) * **Eligibility:** **EU Citizens**, or **Non\-EU citizens already based in the EU with a valid work permit** Once we receive your CV, we will take the time to evaluate it carefully.
