What are the greatest challenges facing the psychedelic medicine movement? How do psychedelics work to treat mental health conditions? In this talk, we will explore the history of psychedelics, their therapeutic foundations, and the diverse ways they are used—both in clinical settings and in broader sociocultural contexts. We will also reflect on strategies to foster coexistence and dialogue among these different perspectives. **Speaker: Dr. José Carlos Bouso** José Carlos Bouso is a Clinical Psychologist and PhD in Pharmacology. His areas of interest include psychopharmacology and the therapeutic properties of entactogens, psychedelics, and cannabis. He has conducted therapeutic research with MDMA and ibogaine, as well as pharmacological research with various plant-derived and synthetic substances, and studies on the long-term neuropsychological effects of substances such as cannabis, ayahuasca, and cocaine. He is the author of the books "What Are Synthetic Drugs?" (RBA) and "Medical Cannabis: From Prohibited Substance to Therapeutic Solution" (Profit Editores), and wrote the foreword, afterword, and notes for the latest edition of Albert Hofmann’s "LSD, My Problem Child" (Arpa Editorial). He has published over 100 scientific articles on psychedelics and psychoactive plants.
