The Inspector Assistant is responsible for conducting accurate and timely inspections of petroleum and petrochemical products on vessels, barges, shore tanks, and road trucks. The role includes sampling, gauging, and verifying cargo quantities in line with established procedures, industry standards, and safety regulations. Duties involve liaising with ship officials for cargo quantification, collecting and handling product samples, and ensuring proper labelling, secure storage, and transportation for laboratory analysis. Work is performed in demanding environments, including at heights, in confined spaces, and during offshore operations. The position requires irregular working hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and offshore assignments. **DUTIES \& RESPONSIBILITIES** ------------------------------ * Perform accurate sampling of cargo onboard vessels, barges, road trucks, and shore tanks. * Conduct quantity inspections on vessels, barges, terminals, and offshore locations within Maltese territorial waters. * Follow client instructions, company standard procedures, the Global Safety Manual, and applicable policies. * Ensure that gauging and temperature measurement equipment is properly calibrated and maintained in good working conditions. * Correctly label and document samples, including product information, storage method, time of sampling, and surveyor identification. * Ensure safe and timely delivery of collected samples to the laboratory. * Assist senior surveyors with inspection activities when required. * Identify and investigate abnormalities noted during inspection operations. * Prepare and submit accurate client reports upon completion of operations. * Participate in required training programs and successfully pass examinations in petroleum, chemical, and gas inspection, hazardous materials handling, and safety protocols. * Always maintain confidentiality of company and client information. * Perform additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adherence to operational excellence. **QUALIFICATIONS** ------------------ * Minimum secondary education or equivalent. * Ordinary level standard, preferably with Mathematics. * Valid Class B driving license. * Clean police conduct certificate. **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS \& ATTRIBUTES** ----------------------------------- * Good verbal and written proficiency in English. * Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. * Strong attention to detail and compliance with safety regulations. * Capacity to work independently and as part of a team. * Physical fitness and ability to work in demanding environments, including confined spaces and at heights. * Ability to work irregular working hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and offshore assignments when required. * High levels of integrity, reliability, punctuality, and accuracy. * Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development. * Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
