The Fundació Sant Joan de Déu / SJD Pediatric Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated senior laboratory technician to join the recently opened Pediatric Cancer Immunotherapy Laboratory, led by Dr. Guillem Pascual-Pastó. The laboratory focuses on the study of immunobiology in pediatric solid tumors, aiming to develop new strategies for next-generation immunotherapy. Key research lines include the development and optimization of CAR T cell therapies, therapeutic antibodies, and mRNA-based lipid nanoparticles. Our approach combines basic and translational research to gain a deep understanding of the immunobiological foundations of pediatric tumors—an essential step enabling us to design more specific, effective, and personalized therapies for each tumor type. The selected candidate will join a dynamic, innovative, and multidisciplinary environment, collaborating closely with researchers and clinical staff at the SJD Pediatric Cancer Center, as well as with high-profile medical centers in Europe and the United States and leading biotechnology research laboratories in Barcelona. These collaborations offer a unique opportunity to participate in pioneering international projects and directly contribute to advancing immunological therapies for pediatric cancer. Initiative, teamwork skills, and interest in applied biomedical research and the translation of scientific discoveries into clinical practice will be particularly valued. The laboratory technician will play a key role in establishing and consolidating the new Pediatric Cancer Immunotherapy Laboratory, working closely with the research team to set up the group's experimental and operational foundations. Their **main responsibilities** include: 1. Laboratory setup: organizing the workspace, implementing biosafety protocols, calibrating equipment, and establishing standardized experimental procedures (SOPs). 2. Development of in vitro and in vivo experimental models, including generation and maintenance of tumor cell lines and establishment of murine models of pediatric solid tumors. 3. Design, cloning, and validation of plasmids for chimeric receptor (CAR) expression and other genetically relevant constructs for ongoing projects. 4. Production, purification, and titration of lentiviral vectors for transduction of primary cells and cell lines. 5. Generation, culture, and characterization of CAR T cells, including transduction, expansion, functional assessment, and phenotypic analysis using flow cytometry and functional assays. 6. Execution of molecular and cellular biology experiments using techniques such as cell culture, flow cytometry, ELISA, qPCR, western blot, and other complementary methodologies. 7. Management and maintenance of biological materials and general laboratory inventory, including cell banks, viral vectors, reagents, and consumables. 8. Technical support for future PhD and postdoctoral students, providing assistance in conducting experiments, troubleshooting technical issues, and training in basic techniques and safe use of laboratory equipment. * **Education:** Higher-level qualification in clinical and biomedical laboratory science, biology, biotechnology, or related fields. * **Experience:** Prior experience in biomedical research laboratories, especially in immunology, cell therapy, or molecular biology, will be valued. * **Technical skills:** Experience with cell culture, molecular biology techniques, flow cytometry, viral vector production, and animal model work (desirable). * **Personal competencies:** Organizational ability, teamwork, autonomy, attention to detail, and motivation for translational research. * **Language:** Intermediate level of English, both written and spoken. **What we offer:** * Full-time position from Monday to Friday (37.5 hours) * Salary based on experience (24,000–28,000 gross annually) * Additional vacation days according to collective agreement. * Discounts at designated dining facilities at work centers. * Flexible compensation program available after 4 months of employment. *"Support RYC2024-048764-I funded by MICIU/AEI /10.13039/501100011033 and by FSE+"*
