Description
The position involves comprehensive collaboration within the kitchen department of a collective institution, such as a hospital, residential care facility, or educational center. Primary responsibilities focus on food preparation, where the professional will assist with tasks including washing, peeling, cutting, and preparing raw materials and ingredients, ensuring strict adherence to technical specifications and prescribed diets for patients. This role is essential to guarantee that production processes meet the highest standards of food quality and safety.
In addition to food preparation, the position requires active support during plating and menu assembly, participating in the preparation and conditioning of service trolleys and final tray assembly for distribution. Another critical aspect of the work is maintaining hygiene, which entails thorough cleaning of the work area, machinery, utensils, and washing zones, always following current HACCP protocols to prevent any risk of contamination.
Finally, the professional will also support logistical tasks such as receiving goods, organizing the warehouse, and ensuring proper product rotation in refrigerated chambers and pantries. This set of activities ensures efficient operational flow and directly contributes to patient well-being and care through appropriate and safe nutrition.
Working conditions are governed by the Collective Agreement for the Collective Catering sector, with a continuous and rotating schedule designed to facilitate work-life balance. The work environment is characterized by professionalism, dynamism, and collaboration, with a constant focus on quality of care and patient service, integrating the employee into a cohesive, results-oriented team.
A valid Food Handler’s Certificate is required, along with a minimum of one year’s prior experience as a kitchen assistant or in similar roles; experience in collective settings such as hospitals or residential care facilities is highly valued. Solid knowledge of hygiene regulations, food safety standards, and occupational risk prevention applicable in kitchen environments is essential, as is residence in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria or surrounding areas, and availability for rotating shifts—including weekends and public holidays—as scheduled by the facility.
