Informal technical leadership and autonomy in resolving blockers Fullstack Developer (Remote) WayOps is looking for a Fullstack Engineer eager to grow professionally by participating in a project within a demanding pharmaceutical environment, possessing solid backend development expertise (PHP/Laravel or Python/FastAPI) and experience with decoupled architectures, able to design modern interfaces and align development with the company's Artificial Intelligence solutions. PROJECT & TEAM You will join strategic corporate application development initiatives for one of our key international pharmaceutical clients. The project focuses on maintaining and evolving the business digital ecosystem by integrating intelligent workflows powered by Artificial Intelligence and process automation to shorten delivery timelines. You will integrate into a high-caliber technical team, collaborating closely with Data Engineering, Web Development, and DevOps professionals, coordinated by a Solution Architect to ensure strict alignment with the company’s technology stack. The work dynamic is highly collaborative, emphasizing technical excellence, joint business requirement gathering with the Transformation team, and documented architectural design decisions (ADR). Your role will be pivotal in evolving interfaces and strengthening the backend, providing an end-to-end architectural perspective. You will contribute to consolidating enterprise system integrations and automation solutions, ensuring delivered software meets the highest standards of quality, observability, and performance. FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES On a day-to-day basis, you will serve as the development and application architecture reference, actively participating in tasks such as: * End-to-end web application development and evolutionary maintenance * Integration of corporate systems (SAP, ERPs, data platforms, and external APIs) * Design and implementation of AI-assisted workflows, orchestration, and automation systems * Definition and design of robust REST APIs and contracts between systems and microservices * Business requirement gathering in collaboration with business teams and the Transformation area * Technical documentation of software design and architectural decisions (ADR) * Ensuring software quality through automated testing, security, and comprehensive observability Although supported by the Solution Architect, informal technical leadership—without formal hierarchy—is expected: demonstrating autonomy in resolving complex blockers and proactively proposing architectural improvements. REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE To be considered, you must have a solid track record as a senior developer with an architectural mindset and experience in complex enterprise environments. Essential skills and knowledge include: * Advanced backend development experience using PHP (Laravel) or Python (FastAPI), or equivalent frameworks * Proficiency in frontend development with JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern frameworks (Next.js, React, or Vue) * Experience designing REST APIs and microservice or decoupled architectures * Strong relational database expertise (advanced SQL) * Regular use of Git, automated testing strategies, and CI/CD pipelines * Informal technical leadership capability and a business-problem-solving mindset **Additionally, the following will be valued positively:** * Prior experience in agentic development or LLM-assisted automation and intelligent workflow orchestration * Integration of corporate systems such as SAP or other enterprise ERPs * Experience with queuing technologies, asynchronous jobs, and event-driven architectures * Advanced use of AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude, or similar) * Knowledge of observability strategies, monitoring, and DevOps mindset * Familiarity with agile methodologies in corporate environments CONTRACT & LOCATION Collaboration will preferably be as an independent contractor, with annual contracts and tacit renewal, within a long-term project designed to offer stability and continuity. For candidates demonstrating exceptional technical or cultural fit, indefinite employment contracts may be considered. The position is full-time (40 hrs/week). The project operates predominantly remotely, requiring only one in-person day per month at the client’s offices in Madrid for face-to-face alignment and team design sessions.
