Interim Account Manager (with SAP)

From Crearte Consulting we are looking for an Accounting Manager with an Interim Management contract for a 9 to 12-month project with a French multinational in the industrial sector. The corporate headquarters is located in Paris - France, but the job position will be based at their offices in Bilbao. Residence in Bilbao is required, although teleworking may be possible in the future. (Relocation allowances will be provided if necessary) The company where you will carry out the project is a French international group; the contract will initially be an interim freelance contract for 9-12 months through our French Interim Management partner. You must have full proficiency in English and French. Your mission will be: * Take on the role of Accounting Manager, managing the project to transfer accounting operations from the head office in France to the team located at their offices in Bilbao, Spain. Manage 5 legal entities under French accounting standards, transferring accounting functions to Spain while maintaining French accounting rules and European regulations. * Manage the project involving the transfer of production accounting from a French company to the new team in Spain. * Coordinate the accounting team based in Bilbao, consisting of 5 people. * Supervise the business transition from France to Spain. * Set up operations for the five legal entities. * Implement the project using SAP 4 Hana. Responsibilities: – Establish accounting operations in northern Spain for the French entities of our client. * Lead the transfer of accounting operations from France to northern Spain. * Ensure a smooth year-end closing and audit for 2025 financial statements during the transition phase. * Lead an accounting team responsible for producing high-quality monthly management and statutory financial reports under IFRS and local French GAAP. You will report directly to the European Finance Director. Key Responsibilities: * Carry out recruitment, planning, implementation of the transfer, onboarding, and coordination with the team in France. * Supervise daily operations and management of accounts payable, fixed assets, general ledger, accounts receivable, bank accounts, and other accounting services. * Provide data and reports according to company standards under IFRS and French GAAP. * Ensure and review monthly balance reconciliations (including intercompany) with proper documentation. * Guarantee compliance with IFRS/French GAAP, local French requirements, internal standard operating procedures, and internal control principles. * Audit: act as responsible person and main contact for external and internal audit teams. Ensure high-quality responses within agreed timelines. Collaborate with external experts to meet any local French requirements. * Identify, design, and implement process improvement strategies. * Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization. * Ensure the team is properly trained to effectively and accurately perform their tasks. Desired Skills and Qualifications: - Experience in managing business transfer projects, specifically within the accounting field under European regulations. - Experience as Head of Accounting in Spain with strong knowledge of French accounting standards. - Full proficiency in French and English. - Availability for an interim contract lasting 9-12 months. - Work location: Bilbao, Monday to Friday. - Proficient in SAP 4 Hana and SAP in general. Familiarity with group reporting tools such as Tagetik, Hyperion, or OnStream. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. - Experience in transferring accounting operations or setting up shared service centers. Previous experience preparing annual financial statements under IFRS and local regulations for complex businesses with inventory management; experience with French GAAP is a plus. - Prior experience in Financial Accounting / Audit roles, preferably within industrial organizations. - Proven experience leading accounting teams and managing tax compliance requirements. - International work experience within a foreign group, particularly with one of the Big 4 firms, is a plus. - Experience in shared service centers is advantageous.
