We are looking for a Quality Engineer to play a key role on our team. This is an exciting opportunity to go beyond traditional quality assurance and explore AI-driven testing, while contributing to defining and maintaining high-quality standards for critical intelligent applications that transform the customer experience. **What You’ll Accomplish** * Design, develop, and maintain test automation frameworks using Java and Python. Write clean, efficient, and scalable automation scripts to ensure robust test coverage across all deliverables. * Perform API testing: understand API-related concepts, develop and execute functional tests, interpret Swagger YAML files, and validate endpoints using Postman or Rest Assured automation frameworks. * Conduct database testing: write and execute SQL queries to retrieve, update, and delete data, ensuring database integrity and reliability. * Be accountable for the quality of assigned features and components: collaborate with product owners and developers during requirement analysis, create detailed test cases, execute comprehensive test suites (functional, integration, regression), and provide final quality sign-off. * Track and report test progress using tools such as JIRA, ADO, or ALM for defect logging and tracking, ensuring transparency of feature quality to the team and stakeholders. CI/CD concepts understanding required. * Implement and execute test plans for AI/ML applications: support QA activities and certify the quality of AI-powered systems, including hands-on testing of conversational bots (chatbots) for intent recognition, conversation flow, response accuracy, and edge-case handling. * Leverage modern AI tools to enhance workflows: use AI-based coding assistants like GitHub Copilot to accelerate test script development and explore generative AI for tasks such as test data generation and bug report summarization. * Ensure AI reliability and fairness: execute test cases targeting bias, fairness, and model robustness issues to contribute to the overall reliability of AI systems. * Develop and maintain test automation scripts and frameworks using Java and Python. * Demonstrate proficiency with test and defect management tools, including JIRA or similar tools. **Required Skills** * Bilingual in French and English is required * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience * 0–1 year of professional experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering role * Hands-on experience developing and maintaining test automation scripts and frameworks in Java and Python * Basic understanding of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and practical experience in an Agile/Scrum environment * Strong interest or prior experience in testing AI-powered applications, such as chatbots or other AI/ML-based systems * Hands-on experience with hybrid automation frameworks * Knowledge of CI/CD concepts and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions) * Exposure to performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling) * Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker) * Passion for learning and staying current with the latest trends in AI and software testing **Total Compensation** We regularly assess market data to offer our employees competitive compensation. The base salary for this position is $65,000 per year. The selected candidate will also be eligible for Cognizant’s annual discretionary performance-based bonus, as well as benefits supporting mental, physical, and financial well-being. **Work Arrangements** We believe hybrid work is the future, and we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Given the operational requirements of this role, it is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week at Cognizant’s Toronto, Ontario office or at a client site.
