Position Summary: We are seeking a hybrid Mainframe expert (Development and Systems) to optimize and enhance application performance within an international financial service. Key Highlights: 1. Optimization of Key Processes We are recruiting for an important international financial service where we manage Batch and Mainframe Operations. **Expand the team with a:** * Mainframe Expert in Application Performance and Improvement. * We envision a hybrid profile between Development and Systems, with extensive knowledge of mainframe applications—and thus strong expertise in COBOL, as well as DB2 and CICS. * Initially, the candidate will undergo training and knowledge transfer from the retiring employee, and must work in a hybrid mode; after this period, they may work either hybrid or 100% remotely. **Required Knowledge and Experience:** * Minimum 2 years’ experience analyzing performance of mainframe Online and Batch applications. **ENVIRONMENT KNOWLEDGE:** * COBOL development skills for both Online and Batch environments. * Knowledge of JCL, including creation and execution of JCL. * Knowledge of DB2. * Understanding of various DB2 objects—Tables, Tablespaces, Indexes, Fields—and how they function. * Knowledge of DB2 commands: RUNSTATS, GRANTS, BIND, REBUILD, RECOVER, REPAIR, etc. * Knowledge of SQL commands: INSERT, UPDATE, SELECT, etc. * Tools to be used: * + BMC AMI Catalog Manager for DB2 + BMC AMI Change Manager for DB2 + BMC AMI Ops for DB2 (Mainview) + IBM DB2 Query Monitor for z/OS **CICS Knowledge** * Understanding of various CICS components—Transaction, Program, DB2TRAN, DB2ENTRY, FILE—and how they function. * Knowledge of CICS commands such as CEMT and CEDA. **Basic MQ Knowledge (Tool used: BMC AMI Ops Monitor for MQ (Mainview))** * VSAM handling knowledge, both via CICS and in Batch. **Excel knowledge for preparing required statistics** **Responsibilities:** **Process Optimization** * Analysis of daily CICS transaction reports: identifying potential issues and/or improvement opportunities. * CPU usage analysis: detecting possibly looping processes and/or possible improvements in executed processes. * Database (DB2) analysis (identifying candidates for compression, size analysis, contention analysis, etc.). * Disk/Tape storage space analysis. **Technical Support to Development Teams for On-Demand Queries and Analyses** * Preparation of monthly KPI reports. * + Daily data collection + Monthly report preparation * Data refresh across environments, adhering to the scheduled PROD-to-QA and PROD-to-DES data copy calendar. * + Responsible for data copying and anonymization processes. + Responsible for managing, planning, and executing scheduled weekend data copying and anonymization processes. + Maintenance of documentation. **Data Anonymization** * Development and maintenance of programs (COBOL) and JCLs that anonymize production data prior to loading into pre-production environments. * Periodic review of sensitive fields in the database to verify correct anonymization. * Documentation * RVS files * + Updated inventory of R4Q (HOST) to KV1 shipments + Uncataloging and modification of shipment/reception jobs, if required + Host data dictionary + Updating the database with host downloads * Madrid, Spain * Indefinite contract * \> 2 years’ experience * Vocational Training (FP) * 0 * English () * 0 ()
