At El Patio, we take pride in creating dishes that reflect the gastronomic richness of Tarifa and beyond, offering our guests a unique experience filled with authentic and exciting flavors. **General Responsibilities of the Kitchen Assistant:** * Assist chefs in food preparation. * Measure and mix ingredients using scales and measuring jugs, following technical specifications and under supervision by a superior. * Work in an organized and clean manner throughout the entire work period, without distractions. * Monitor inventory levels and inform the supervisor when additional orders are required. * Receive deliveries, cross-checking them against the department head’s purchase order to ensure no incorrect items are accepted. * Notify the department head immediately if any shortages or errors are identified in the delivered items. * Unpack and store inventory correctly in freezers, cabinets, and other storage areas, in compliance with health and safety regulations. * Switch off machinery not in use to conserve energy and ensure proper equipment maintenance. * Monitor water usage during dishwashing; taps must not run unnecessarily. * Complete the cleaning schedule on the board and maintain all corresponding health and hygiene records. * Wash, drain, and polish dishes, then place them in their designated locations. * Separate waste and packaging materials, disposing of them in their respective containers. * Empty the dishwasher and thoroughly clean it, preparing it for the next service. * Clean floor areas thoroughly, including underneath bells, corners, rear exit zones, and the pantry area. * Deliver soiled cloths and rags to the laundry and ensure they are placed in the washing machine. * Ensure the rear kitchen door is securely closed. * Adhere to personal hygiene standards: wear clean, ironed uniforms; keep hair tied back and covered with a hat. **Requirements:** * Prior experience as a kitchen assistant in high-quality restaurants or similar establishments. * Knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations. * Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow detailed instructions. * Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays. * Commitment to quality and excellence in every culinary preparation. * Ability to remain calm and work efficiently under pressure. * Flexibility to adapt to the changing demands of the kitchen environment. * Proactive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within the culinary field. * Residence near Tarifa or willingness to relocate. **Skills:** * Proficiency in basic cooking techniques such as cutting, chopping, peeling, etc. * Basic knowledge of various food types and preparation methods. * Ability to work quickly and accurately while maintaining high quality standards. * Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with the kitchen team. * Organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate execution of kitchen orders. * Creativity to contribute fresh and original ideas to the development of new dishes. * Physical stamina to remain active over extended periods. * Ability to follow recipes and procedures established by the chef or kitchen manager. * Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensil handling. * Passion for gastronomy and desire to deliver an exceptional culinary experience to guests. **Additionally, we seek someone with:** * A positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow professionally. * Passion for exceeding our guests’ expectations. * Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
