As a key contributor, you will drive innovation, optimize system performance, and ensure scalability, security, and reliability while collaborating with cross\-functional teams, including product, security, compliance, and data analytics ### **Key** **Responsibilities** * **Develop Backend Systems** Design and implement scalable, high\-performance backend solutions, ensuring robust APIs for mobile, web, and third\-party integrations. * **Ensure Performance, Security \& Compliance** Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability. Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with AML, KYC, data privacy, and state\-by\-state sweepstakes regulations. * **Mentor** Support and guide engineers by sharing best practices and contributing to a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence. * **Collaborate Cross\-Functionally** Partner with product, finance, compliance, and support teams to translate requirements into technical solutions and ensure seamless operations. ### **Qualifications** * Proven experience designing, developing, and scaling high\-performance backend systems. * Strong hands\-on experience with Python for backend development, automation, and data processing. * Experience building and maintaining APIs, working with CI/CD pipelines, and supporting infrastructure automation. * Solid understanding of system performance optimization, security best practices, and regulatory compliance, including AML, KYC, and data privacy. * Experience working with data pipelines, analytics integrations, and geolocation\-based access controls. * Experience mentoring or supporting other engineers and sharing engineering best practices. * Strong collaboration skills working with cross\-functional teams across product, finance, compliance, and support. * Hands\-on experience with incident management, monitoring systems, and root cause analysis. ### **Requirements** * Based in Barcelona * Fluent in English * Minimum 4 years of relevant experience * EU work authorization required — no visa sponsorship
