**ATTENTION! Attendance requires prior registration and obtaining a spot. People without a reserved spot will not be admitted. It is also very important that you do not take up a spot if you do not plan to attend.** Hello and welcome to our upcoming Socrates Café philosophy meetup! Do you seek a deeper understanding of yourself and the world? Do you value deep, honest, and respectful dialogue? If so, this gathering will be highly interesting for you. This is a bilingual meeting; we can participate in both Catalan and Spanish. **WHERE DO WE MEET?** At Cafè de l'Òpera La Rambla, 74, Barcelona https://maps.app.goo.gl/HZRc3D3oPgrdoNfV6 **WHEN DO WE MEET?** Fridays from 19:15 to 20:45. Please arrive on time. We will start promptly. **HOW MANY PEOPLE ATTEND?** Sessions are planned with varying capacities, so the number of attendees may vary each week. **WHAT HAPPENS AT THE MEETINGS?** At each meeting, we hold a discussion using the Socratic method: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socratic_method](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socratic_method). We ask, answer, and discuss questions and ideas to stimulate critical thinking and broaden our perspectives by exploring concepts and thoughts we've never considered before. The main goal of these gatherings is to enrich ourselves through others' perspectives, not to convince others of our own views. The meetings focus on our personal philosophies of life, not necessarily on what great philosophers or academics have said or written. This is not a debate club nor a platform for proselytizing. Instead, we emphasize questioning, maintaining an open mind, and challenging our own assumptions while listening to and respecting the opinions shared by others. A Socrates Café meeting is considered successful when participants leave the discussion with far more questions than they had at the beginning. **WHAT TOPICS ARE DISCUSSED AT THE MEETINGS?** Participants suggest topics at the beginning of each meeting. Then we vote and choose the most popular topic to discuss. No academic background in philosophy is required; only enthusiasm for exchanging ideas and viewpoints is needed. Some examples of topics chosen in previous meetings: \- For which ideals is it worth dying? \- Why are we never satisfied? \- Why are human beings aware that society is going wrong and leaders are well informed, yet things remain unchanged? \- Is identity necessary? \- What are ethics and greed? \- What is post-truth? \- How is it possible that people in democratic societies are so obsessed with power? \(Desire to be different, better, stronger than others\)\. \- What is friendship? **WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THIS MEETUP?** Anyone is more than welcome to join our gatherings. These events bring together people from diverse backgrounds and cultures, although philosophical training is not required. Our regular participants are individuals seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and the world—people who value deep, honest, and respectful dialogue.
