Description
**Context**
The Pasqual Maragall Foundation was established in 2008 with the mission of promoting and developing excellence in biomedical research. The Foundation is fully committed to making a decisive contribution toward finding global solutions to Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, as well as raising societal awareness to ensure scientific support for these challenges receives appropriate priority. The Foundation’s research is conducted at the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center (BBRC), a research center established jointly with Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
The vision of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation is to achieve **“A Future Without Alzheimer’s”**, within the framework of active and healthy aging associated with positive experiences and free from cognitive decline and impairment. To this end, BBRC research focuses on primary and secondary prevention of Alzheimer’s disease—made possible thanks to the voluntary participation of thousands of individuals contributing to scientific studies, with the aim that, in the near future, far fewer people will be affected by the disease.
The Pasqual Maragall Foundation is a private, non-profit entity. Its financial resources come from philanthropic donations by institutions and companies, as well as from an extensive network of over 80\.000 members who contribute to funding research. Scientific staff at the research center also competitively obtain grants and subsidies, primarily from European and international foundations. For more information, visit our websites:

The Pasqual Maragall Foundation is a young, consolidated, and growing foundation that—alongside the BBRC—currently employs over 200 people. The FPM team includes cross-functional departments such as maintenance, IT, finance, procurement, People Department, communications, social area, and fundraising, while the BBRC scientific team comprises researchers and professionals in medicine, biology, psychology, nursing, and other fields. All this takes place in a dynamic environment where continuous challenges form part of the Foundation’s daily routine.
