Orange Pulp Pellet
Basic Info
Description
Orange Pulp is a byproduct of the sugar extraction industry. Its energy content (approximately 85% of maize) makes it a good supplement for extensively raised animals, as when provided in moderate amounts, it does not affect the digestibility of the basal ration forages. The main component of orange pulp is carbohydrates. It contains 35-45% NDF with very low lignification (thus highly digestible), as well as significant amounts of pectins (20%) and sugars. It is easily degraded by ruminal flora, resulting in a high proportion of acetic acid, which favors fat synthesis in dairy animals. It is a highly palatable product that can be used in quantities up to 3 kg in dairy cows. Larger quantities may limit intake. Granulated Pulp does not present preservation issues. ORANGE PULP USAGE RECOMMENDATIONS: Combine with cereal straw or hay. Provide approximately 600 to 800 grams per sheep per day depending on animal weight
