Job Summary: We are seeking a Department Head of Machinery for a vessel, responsible for directing, operating, and maintaining the main propulsion plant, auxiliary engines, and technical systems, ensuring safety and efficiency. Key Responsibilities: 1. Direct and operate the main propulsion plant and technical systems of the vessel. 2. Ensure operational safety and compliance with current regulations. 3. Supervise assigned personnel and manage fuel efficiently. In Llanes (Asturias), we are seeking an experienced individual to serve as the highest-ranking officer in the machinery department aboard a vessel. Responsibilities include directing, operating, and maintaining the main propulsion plant, auxiliary engines, and all technical systems of the vessel. Ensuring operational safety, compliance with current regulations, efficient fuel management, and supervision of assigned personnel will be essential. Candidates must hold up-to-date training courses and the required merchant marine command qualification to serve as Chief Engineer on vessels with engines under 400 KW. A one-year full-time temporary employment contract is offered, with working hours adaptable to service requirements—particularly tidal schedules. Salary will be determined in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
