Description

Would you like to develop your career within the procurement department of a food distribution company? A well-established and growing Catalan company specializing in the distribution of food and FMCG products is seeking to hire a Procurement and Category Management Technician. The selected candidate will support the management of various product categories, maintaining direct contact with suppliers and participating in negotiations regarding pricing, promotions, commercial terms, new references, and improvement initiatives. We are looking for a candidate with initial experience in procurement, supply chain, or product management who wishes to grow professionally and progressively assume greater responsibility. What will be your mission? Collaborate in managing assigned categories, ensuring favorable purchasing conditions, an appropriate product assortment, and smooth, professional relationships with suppliers. You will report directly to the Commercial and Procurement Director, with training and mentoring provided throughout the onboarding process. Key responsibilities Maintain regular contact with suppliers of assigned categories. Request, review, and compare pricing, offers, and commercial terms. Support supplier negotiations and prepare necessary information for meetings. Monitor agreed commercial terms, discounts, rebates, bonuses, and promotions. Manage product and reference additions, deletions, and modifications. Collect and update product datasheets, pricing lists, catalogs, and commercial documentation. Analyze purchase costs, margins, turnover, and performance trends across various references. Identify pricing, terms, or billing discrepancies and coordinate their resolution with suppliers. Track incidents related to products, deliveries, or agreed terms. Participate in selecting new products and identifying alternative suppliers. Collaborate in preparing campaigns, promotions, and product launches. Analyze market innovations, competitor activity, and consumer trends. Coordinate with logistics, administration, procurement, and sales teams. Prepare category performance reports and support decision-making. While this position involves commercial and sales analysis aspects, its primary focus will be procurement management, commercial terms, and supplier relations. What are we looking for? Degree in Business Administration and Management, Economics, Commerce, Marketing, Administrative Management, or a related field. Minimum one to three years’ experience in procurement, supply chain, product management, commercial administration, or supplier management. Interest in professional development within procurement and category management. Proficiency in working with data, pricing, margins, and commercial documentation. Strong Excel and office software skills. Fluent Catalan and Spanish. Valid driver’s license and availability for occasional travel. Experience in distribution, food, FMCG, retail, or HoReCa sectors will be valued, as well as knowledge of Power BI, ERP systems, or AI-powered data analytics tools. Which profile best fits us? An organized, analytical, and responsible individual with strong interpersonal skills for engaging with suppliers and reliably tracking commitments. We seek someone curious, proactive, and eager to learn—someone who wants to understand the business, gain deep product knowledge, and progressively evolve toward autonomous management of their own categories. Strong communication and negotiation skills, commercial acumen, and attention to detail—without losing sight of the company’s overall objectives—are essential. What do we offer? Permanent contract and a stable professional project. Join a well-established Girona-based company with strong growth prospects. Initial training and mentoring by experienced professionals. Opportunity to learn and grow within the procurement function. Progressive evolution toward more autonomous management of suppliers and categories. Direct contact with manufacturers, brands, and companies in the food industry. Cross-functional role, interacting with multiple departments across the organization. Dynamic, supportive, and professional work environment. Negotiable remuneration based on experience and expertise brought to the role. If you have initial procurement or supplier management experience and are seeking an opportunity to grow within a well-established company, we would love to meet you. Submit your application and let’s discuss your next professional project.
