Summary: ESSP is seeking a CNS Service Evolution Engineer to support and coordinate technical activities in service provision for ongoing projects like Satellite Communications/Iris and CNS Services. Our mission is to operate and provide Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) services, among which, the main one is, the EGNOS service (the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service), on behalf of the EUSPA (the European Agency for Space). ESSP Corporate Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v\=u\_FKtcaN8YE ESSP Website career: https://www.essp\-sas.eu/human\-resources/careers/ We are looking for a CNS Service Evolution Engineer who will provide support and coordinate technical activities focused on Service Provision in the on\-going projects/contracts (i.e., Satellite Communications/Iris, aeronautical Data\-link Service Provision) and activities linked to CNS (Communication, Navigation, Surveillance) Services. We are looking for an Engineer with 3 years of experience in aeronautical communications, with special focus on data link (DLS) services and applications, and/or satellite technologies (SATCOM/Iris). If you think you meet the requirements, this position might be for you! ### **Your main responsibilities/activities will be:** * Support for project management activities in satellite communication (Iris program), * Technical coordination in activities and deliveries on CNS Services (e.g. data link communications) to: o Provision of Iris (SATCOM) service, delivering as planned and participating in customer and supplier meetings; o Technical architecture evolution; o Evolution of service modelling and concept of operations characterization based on applicable regulatory framework and standards; o Lead on technical studies and assessments of different technologies, state of the art for CNS; o Service provision requirements definition, evolution, and monitoring towards main suppliers; o Lead some service validation test cases during the test campaign; o Participation in the Iris board, review performance reports, and provision of technical advisory support to incident and problem resolution. * Management of technical meetings related to CNS projects; * Participation in international fora related to CNS (e.g., Eurocontrol, SESAR), gathering customer needs and/or providing guidance in the corresponding field; * Report on CNS projects highlighting the current status of activities, next steps, issues/risks identified; * Technical support in the identification and preparation of potential tenders related to CNS areas in line with ESSP business strategy. ### **Profile:** * Relevant knowledge in Communication Navigation Surveillance (CNS) /Air Traffic Management (ATM) technologies, especially focused on datalink technologies (Aircraft Communication Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS), VDL Mode 2, SATCOM\-Iris, Aeronautical Telecommunication Network, such as ATN/OSI and ATN IPS). * Good understanding of European regulation (such as, but not limited to, Single European Sky regulatory framework and EASA regulation) as well as applicable standards (ICAO, EUROCAE, RTCA, ARINC…). * Good understanding of datalink communication services supporting ACARS\-based applications, ATN\-B1, ATS\-B2 \& ATS\-B3\. * Good capacity of analysis, synthesis, and reporting. * Team player spirit. * Ability to assume responsibilities. * Proactiveness/initiative. **Other preferable skills:** * Understanding of satellite\-based controller/pilot datalink supporting air traffic management communications. * Good understanding of ICAO Aviation System Block Upgrade and Global Air Navigation Plan. * Knowledge of datalink avionics. * Background in key relevant CNS fora (Eurocontrol, Eurocae, SESAR, others). ### **Job Requirements:** **Language:** English (B2 minimum) – CEFR and Spanish (desirable) **Engineering degree or equivalent** Available for **regular travels** mainly in Europe **Human Resources information:** * 1st interview is held by **the direct manager** of the position you applied for (technical interview) * 2nd interview is held by **HR department** **Element of package of remuneration:** * **Variable**: bonuses based on objectives * **Teleworking**: up to 3 days/week * **Health insurance, Life Insurance** * **Saving plan** * **Tickets** **Restaurant** * **Sustainable** **Mobility** **Package**: Home/Office travels reimbursement if car sharing or bicycling * **29 holidays** (for full time year) Please send your application file only by e\-mail to the following address: recrut@essp\-sas.eu **Job Location**: Madrid (Spain) **Type of Contract**: Full time \- Permanent Contract
