Hi! I’m Paula, the recruiter for this position. I love traveling—especially to international destinations—and sushi is my favorite food. I’m also passionate about flamenco fashion and enjoy dancing sevillanas. As you can see, enthusiasm and diversity are part of my everyday life. It’s a pleasure to meet you! Perhaps this is the tenth job posting you’re reading today—relaxing on the sofa with Netflix playing in the background—or you’re in the middle of a major life transition… and they all seem identical to you. Let me be clear: at Zurich, we’re not perfect—but we’re pretty awesome! And if you’d like to know why, keep reading. First and foremost, THANK YOU for your interest in our company. We know that searching for new opportunities can be challenging—but don’t worry; everything comes in due time! **Let’s get straight to the point!** I’ll summarize our DNA in two key points: * We love volunteering—but we prefer to be **activists for change**. How? By focusing our efforts on young people at risk of social exclusion or on combating climate change through actions such as reforesting forests in Madrid and Doñana National Park. In 2023, 84% of our workforce contributed over 13,300 hours of activism. * At Zurich, we say it loud and clear: we’re proud of our colors and believe that diverse teams make the difference. Here, we don’t talk about disability—we talk about ability. **Being your authentic self is our top priority**, without closets standing between us or glass ceilings limiting potential. Women hold 50% of our leadership positions (including the Executive Committee). Did you know we produce our own podcasts on sexual identity? We’re building a company where everyone is truly welcome. **You might be wondering: “Paula, what will my day-to-day look like wearing the blue jersey?” I love that you’re asking this question (I asked it myself, too):** Your goal will be to develop risk engineering capabilities that support profitable growth and strengthen Zurich’s reputation as a company that helps clients manage their risks. Your main responsibilities will include: * Conducting risk analyses for large industrial clients—primarily in Property Damage, Business Interruption, and Civil Liability (including Environmental Liability)—focused on underwriting, though analyses may also cover other risks such as construction, energy, etc., depending on the candidate’s qualifications. * Advising underwriters and claims specialists on risks associated with insured activities. * Acting as a client consultant to improve their risk profiles. * Training underwriting and commercial teams on risk knowledge and selection criteria. * Training intermediary teams on risk analysis and performing quality control on their work. * Analyzing loss data and developing action plans to reduce its impact. * Designing and/or supporting prevention campaigns, promoting engineering solutions, etc. * Collaborating closely with the ZRS Director to develop client solutions for an evolving world (predictive technology, data analytics, sustainability, supply chain, etc.) **By now, you’re probably wondering: “How do I know if I’m a good fit?”** Don’t worry—I won’t ask you to save the planet or expect you to meet 100% of the requirements. * 5–10 years’ experience in a Risk Engineer role—or equivalent industrial experience as an HSE Manager or similar. * Industrial experience in sectors such as construction or energy is highly valued. * Advanced technical education. * High-level spoken and written English (mandatory). * Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams. * Strong communication and negotiation skills. * Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (0–3 overnight stays per month on average). Right now, you’re either feeling the thrill of finding the perfect pair of pants—or thinking, “This isn’t for me.” (If it’s not for you, no worries—we’ll surely cross paths again in the future.) You’re welcome to play matchmaker by sharing my contact details with anyone you think might be a great fit. At Zurich, we’re big on **enjoying life**—we truly live it. I’d love to hear how we can make you happy, but for me, balancing work and personal life is essential. Here, flexible working hours and genuine digital disconnection are real. **\#BecauseWeAreZurich**, you can choose the benefits best suited to your needs. After all, tastes differ—and that’s perfectly okay. * We offer an extremely flexible hybrid work model—work how and where you want within Spain. We’ll even help you set up your home office with a dedicated allowance. * We embrace the “learn-by-doing” philosophy, enabling you to move across local or international areas through our “Talent in Motion” program. For continued development and growth: English classes, training, and a personalized mentoring program. * We’re redefining flexible compensation. With our benefits allowance, you can choose what fits you and your needs best: private health insurance, childcare, training, meal vouchers… and much more! * We love putting smiles on faces—and at Zurich, we know it’s easier than it seems. That’s why we’re activists. Why not dedicate an entire day to the cause that inspires you most? * Referral bonus if you recommend talent like yourself. We’re not looking for perfection—but if you know someone who’s awesome, please share my contact details. I’d love to meet them. * Got a competitive spirit? At Zurich, we’re going for gold! Marathons, races, gym discounts—and much more. 3, 2, 1… warm up—we’re off! * Beach or mountains? You’ll enjoy 25 vacation days, plus your insurance day and birthday—so you can fully savor what you love most. And don’t be fooled: real disconnection. Yes, everyone deserves a break—and to enjoy life. That’s two full days. * At Zurich, we think ahead—to your future—with retirement planning and life insurance. * We hunt down the best deals for you! You’ll gain access to thousands of discounts on insurance and banking products. If you’ve made it this far—THANK YOU for reading. What did you think? Are we awesome—or not? If you felt butterflies in your stomach and believe we’re a great match, send up smoke signals—or your CV, if smoke isn’t your thing. To wrap up: would you like to hear what others at Zurich have to say? I’d tell you we’re #1 in Top Employers Spain as our calling card—but I encourage you to check out our Glassdoor profile so they can tell you themselves. No tricks, no gimmicks. Looking forward to meeting you soon. Paula Moreno.
