Gerocultor/a

Description

In Gijón (Asturias), a person is sought for the position of gerocultor. Main responsibilities include assisting with personal hygiene, such as bathing, changing clothes, oral care, and shaving, as well as changing diapers when necessary. Support is also provided for feeding by serving meals, helping individuals eat as required, and monitoring adequate hydration. Other tasks involve facilitating mobility during transfers and postural changes, preventing falls, and offering emotional support through companionship and encouragement of social interaction. The health status must be observed to detect changes and report them to healthcare staff; collaboration with nursing, medical, and physiotherapy teams is required; and autonomy of elderly persons must be promoted by encouraging them to perform tasks independently whenever possible. Participation in stimulation and leisure activities is also expected. A food handler’s certificate and sociosanitary qualification are required; a driver’s license is valued. The position offers an indefinite-term contract, full-time hours with rotating shifts, and salary governed by the State Agreement on Dependency.
