Summary: The MHE Engineer designs material handling equipment, validates data, creates designs, manages budgets, coordinates with stakeholders, and ensures design functionality and quality. Highlights: 1. Design cutting-edge material handling solutions for new projects. 2. Drive continuous improvement through design and quality control tools. 3. Collaborate with diverse teams on innovative logistic automation. The MHE Engineer is responsible for designing material handling equipment for new projects. Validating data supplied by Business Development and Operations and translating this into a complete design that meets the performance. Preferably multiple options are made which will be presented to an expert challenge group. Budgets from rough to fine will need to be made and updated in the various stages of the project as well as request for quotations and thorough supplier comparisons and supplier proposals. During the execution phase the engineer will be responsible for all design related queries and to ensure that what was designed also works (lessons learned) Further creating and standardizing Material Handling design and quality control tools. **What will you do?** * Create a design with conceptual logistic flows and possible technical solutions based on provided customers data for a new NewCold project * Verify the performance of the existing NewCold sites based on collected data and detect the ‘’weak points’’ within those sites * Use the findings of previous step and work them out within a predefined MHE ‘’lessons learned environment’’ * Use those learnings for new updates of the existing SD’s (SD’s are Standard designs, containing description of technical solution per area like cranes, conveyors e.g.) * Investigate if certain current standard solutions are updated and require new ‘’state of the art’’ solutions or different equipment as current ones * Be able to detect the relevant new technical solutions or equipment within the logistics automation market to mitigate previously mentioned ‘’learnings’’ * Be able to sell these ‘’mitigations’’ internally within NewCold * Design material handling automation and logistic Material Handling Equipment solutions * Coordinate design solutions with E\&I and PLC department * Coordinate design and site issues with clients, design consultants, sub\-contractors and suppliers * Prepare requests for quotation documents, assist during contractor selection process, and monitor the performance of contractor on technical aspects * Maintains a complete set of project engineering records on all assignments * Participates in technical reviews and price review meetings * Participates in recommending ideas for improving procedures, quality, designs, applications, and equipment * Execute relevant Factory Acceptance Tests for mechanical engineering * Manage planning of mechanical engineering discipline for the whole project * Identify changes to the contractual requirements and analyses cost and time impact of these changes, support the project manager or contract manager for variation proposals * Assess impacts and incorporate changes in mechanical engineering during all phases of the project * Manage and archive deliverables, provide design data to other stakeholders * Ensure that the design fulfils local safety and ergonomics norms * Coordinate with relevant statutory departments or consultants for mechanical and MEP (Sprinkler) design and installation * Support installation and commissioning teams and handling site problem reports * Process and submit as\-built documentation * Establishes and maintain good workshop relationship with internal project team members and external MHE suppliers. **Who are we looking for?** * Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering or equivalent * Preferable min. 5 years of post\-graduated experience in pallet conveyors and AS/RS * Fluent in English and any other additional European language is a plus * Good understanding of AutoCAD / Revit is required * Good understanding of Microsoft Office * Basic knowledge of mechanical, MEP and steelwork design and installations * High proficiency in designing Material Handling System and Logistic Concepts * Basic knowledge of electrical components, cabinets and field wiring for mechanical design purposes * Basic knowledge of statutory requirements on health and safety, government submissions, MEP related statutory submissions * Occasional travel is required in this position. Usually, trips are planned and are of short duration.
