Provide critical expertise in hull, structural, and coating systems Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Naval Architect to join our team in Rota, Spain, supporting the Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center (FDRMC). This role offers a unique opportunity to directly impact the structural integrity and survivability of forward\-deployed U.S. Navy vessels operating in the 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility. As part of a mission\-driven team, you will provide critical expertise in hull, structural, and coating systems—supporting inspections, casualty response, and repair planning in a dynamic, high\-tempo environment. If you are passionate about naval engineering and want to contribute to Fleet readiness on a global stage, this position offers both challenge and purpose. **Essential Responsibilities**: * Provide Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) to evaluate and resolve casualties involving hull, structural, and coating systems * Conduct on\-site (OS) and distant support (DS) inspections of hulls, tanks, voids, and structural members to assess damage and develop repair recommendations * Perform scheduled and unscheduled system assessments in support of TSRA, ICMP, INSURV, and other readiness evaluations * Evaluate corrosion, structural degradation, and coating system performance, and recommend corrective actions * Support Engineering Technical Branch (ETB) operations, including ship stability calculations and monitoring during casualties, drills, or emergent events * Participate in ETB drills and training, and respond to casualty events, including weekends and holidays as required * Provide logistics support, including material identification and repair requirement development * Deliver on\-the\-job training (OJT) and technical guidance to ship’s force personnel on inspection and maintenance practices * Document findings using Navy systems (e.g., MFOM/NMD, FTS, CADET, MAFs) and prepare formal reports/debriefs in accordance with JFMM standards * Recommend updates to technical documentation, including Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs), manuals, and drawings * Obtain and utilize technical documentation from FDRMC Technical Library, OEM sources, and other repositories * Travel as required to support forward\-deployed naval forces across multiple OCONUS locations **Minimum Requirements**: * Demonstrated experience in the inspection of U.S. Navy shipboard hull, structural, and coating systems * Ability to perform structural assessments, corrosion evaluations, and repair planning * Knowledge of ship stability principles and ability to support stability calculations during casualty response * Familiarity with Navy maintenance and reporting systems such as MFOM/NMD, FTS, MAFs, and CADET * Ability to interpret and apply technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation * Willingness to complete the Shipboard Corrosion Assessment Technician course within 6 months of hire * Ability to obtain and maintain CADET database access upon onboarding * Ability to work independently at a journeyman level in a fast\-paced operational environment * Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including extended OCONUS and shipboard assignments * Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance * Strong written and verbal communication skills **Preferred Qualifications (not required)****:** * Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related engineering discipline * Experience supporting U.S. Navy surface ships or submarines, particularly in forward\-deployed environments * Familiarity with Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) and NAVSEA standards * Experience supporting TSRA, INSURV, ICMP, or pre\-deployment assessments * Background in corrosion control programs and coating system management * Experience conducting dry\-docking assessments and structural inspections * Proficiency with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, FEMAP, or similar modeling/analysis software * Prior experience supporting Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) or working at a Regional Maintenance Center (RMC) * Active or recently held security clearance * Experience working in a forward\-deployed or OCONUS operational environment, supporting naval forces in high\-tempo, mission\-critical settings **Compensation Details:** $100,000 \- 120,000
