If you join our team, you’ll be contributing to building the technology that powers the future. About the Role We’re hiring a Director, Electrical Engineering to lead electrical design ownership and engineering governance across Nscale’s North America data center portfolio. This is a senior, hands\-on leadership role responsible for shaping the electrical basis of design across multiple U.S. sites, including MV/LV distribution architectures, electrical equipment strategy, and controls and monitoring interfaces. You’ll lead the development of facility infrastructure purpose\-built for high\-density AI deployments, including electrical standards that support rapid scaling, high availability, high power density, and flexibility for future hardware deployments. You’ll also support technical due diligence for greenfield, brownfield, and colocation opportunities, helping assess electrical architecture, power delivery constraints, and site readiness. What You’ll be Doing * Own the electrical basis of design for U.S. data centers, including MV/LV distribution architectures, electrical equipment strategy, and controls and monitoring interfaces. * Lead concept, schematic, and detailed design reviews for new builds and expansion projects. * Establish and maintain electrical design standards and reference architectures to enable repeatable, rapid deployment across the U.S. * Ensure designs meet availability, maintainability, efficiency, safety, and high\-density AI workload requirements. * Provide engineering support through long\-lead equipment procurement, submittals, RFIs, field changes, and issue resolution during construction. * Select and manage architectural and engineering consultants throughout the design process, from schematic design through construction documents. * Enforce quality and documentation standards through drawing and specification reviews. * Lead reviews of short\-circuit and arc flash studies, including study assumptions, protective device coordination, equipment ratings, labeling requirements, and remediation actions. * Partner cross\-functionally with Construction, Commissioning, Operations, Procurement, and product/platform stakeholders to ensure electrical systems meet business and customer requirements. * Implement lessons learned from deployments to improve reliability, maintainability, safety, power efficiency, and delivery quality. * Build and lead a high\-performing team of engineers, including hiring, mentoring, performance management, and career development. * Support electrical technical due diligence for potential colocation sites, including utility feeds, redundancy, power density capability, available capacity headroom, operational maturity, and maintenance practices. * Review landlord/operator documentation, including basis of design, one\-lines, protective device coordination study summaries, sequences of operation, maintenance records, incident history, and commissioning reports. * Define and negotiate electrical lease exhibits and technical schedules, including power capacity commitments, operating envelopes, maintenance windows, response SLAs, change control requirements, and metering and monitoring boundaries. * Evaluate fit for high\-density AI workloads, including constraints on available MW, expansion pathways, generator/UPS topology, and distribution limitations to the white space. * Support early\-stage site screening by defining electrical utility and constructability requirements, including interconnection approach, substation and utility constraints, redundancy targets, equipment yard and room requirements, and expansion capacity. * Lead electrical due diligence for greenfield and brownfield acquisitions, including evaluation of existing infrastructure condition, remaining useful life, maintainability, and upgrade pathways. * Assess site constraints and risks that impact electrical design and delivery, including MV routing, substation space, protection and coordination constraints, electrical room planning, yards, and equipment setbacks. About You * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. * Professional Engineering License. * 5\+ years of electrical engineering experience in mission\-critical facilities, with significant time in data center design. * 3\+ years of engineering leadership experience, including people leadership and/or leading large multi\-site programmes. * Strong understanding of data center electrical systems and reliability concepts, including MV/LV distribution, switchgear and protection, UPS systems, generators, ATS/STS strategy, grounding and bonding, and commissioning practices for mission\-critical electrical infrastructure. * Experience working with U.S. engineering firms, AHJs, and state/local code environments. * Strong presence and decision\-making capability. * Pragmatic, risk\-based leadership style suited to fast\-paced construction environments. * High judgement in high\-consequence scenarios. * Ability to challenge delivery teams while maintaining strong partnership and trust. Why this role matters This role helps define the electrical architecture behind Nscale’s next generation of AI\-ready data centers in North America. Your work will directly influence the reliability, scalability, safety, and efficiency of facilities designed to support high\-density GPU infrastructure at speed and scale.
