🌳Understory and Streams of Lluçanès: Balmes, Salt del Molí, Llobateres 🌿🌊

We kick off the year with this circular route through Lluçanès—one of Catalonia’s least-known regions! 🌿​🌳​ You’ll be amazed by its vast meadows dotted with tranquil pine and holm oak forests, lush understories crossed by winding, life-filled streams. These landscapes of the Central Catalan Depression (Vic Marls) are rich in marine fossils, indicating that this area once lay beneath the ocean 🐚🌊. Learn fascinating new things about the natural environment alongside a geologist! 🤠 **🚗 How do we get there?:** By private car, departing at 7:45 a.m. from RENFE Fabra i Puig, Sant Andreu Arenal (Bar Vivari, Avda. Meridiana 408), heading to Sant Bartomeu del Grau (toll-free, 1 h 20 min). 🌊 **EVENT SCHEDULE**: We park (9:15 a.m.) and begin walking across various meadows, visit the village of Sant Bartomeu del Grau, then enter enchanting forests and streams where time seems to have stood still. We’ll have lunch in the mountains, and on our way back, we’ll stop in the village for the legendary “germanor” drink before returning to Barcelona 🍻 🥾 **ROUTE DETAILS**: 💪🏼Technical difficulty rating: MINIMAL MOUNTAIN-HIKING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 📐Approximate distance: 15.5 km 🕐Approximate duration: 6 hours ↪️Total elevation gain: 530 m 🌤️Weather forecast: [meteocat.com](http://meteocat.com) . TECHNICAL DETAILS: The route follows dirt tracks and trails (widths of 50 cm–2 m). Some sections are narrow, and we’ll cross several streams with little or no water. We’ll use our legs on certain descents.
