This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting\-edge projects in agent\-based and activity\-based modelling, working alongside senior transport modellers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams across the Spain and internationally. **As a City Modelling Lab Consultant at Arup, you will:** * Develop and apply innovative methodologies to solve complex urban modelling challenges using data, models, and visualisation. * Build and calibrate models including synthetic populations, activity/location choice models, and forecasting future transport scenarios. * Support scheme assessments and mitigation testing through robust data analysis. * Collaborate with clients and stakeholders, attend meetings and present insights. * Extract, interpret, and communicate model outputs through traditional and non\-traditional technical reporting. * Leverage your expertise in Python and GitHub to deliver scalable and efficient solutions. **Does this role inspire you?** We are looking for someone proactive and dynamic to join the Mobility team. Ideally, you’ll bring: * Degree or Master’s in Transport Planning, civil engineering or similar. * Demonstrable experience in simulation, urban modelling, and/or transport modelling. * Proficiency in Python * Strong data visualization skills tailored to client needs. * Ability to present complex data clearly and effectively. * Excellent interpersonal and client\-facing communication. * Comfortable working independently and within a team. **Bonus points if you have:** * PhD degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Data Science, Transport Planning, Statistics), especially activity based and/or agent\-based modelling. * Direct experience with activity\-based and agent\-based modelling, including synthetic population development. * Experience in the appropriate development and deployment of machine learning algorithms, balancing explainability with predictive power * Familiarity with MATSim or PopulationSim. * Experience with databases and statistical tools (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server, R) and knowledge of traditional modelling software (e.g., SATURN, VISSUM, CUBE). * Knowledge of cloud computing (AWS, GCP, Azure etc.) * Knowledge of software engineering practices, including automated. **Conditions** * Immediate incorporation **How to apply for this vacancy?** To apply for this vacancy, register your updated CV and a cover letter in English. **Why Arup?** At Arup, we offer a rewarding career with a global company committed to a better future.
