The Senior Accountant position involves comprehensive leadership of the accounting department for a specific group of companies. Primary responsibilities include overseeing all general and analytical accounting activities, ensuring accuracy and consistency of financial records. The professional will be responsible for executing and reviewing both monthly and annual financial closings, ensuring that all reported information complies with current regulations and the company's internal standards. Management of the full accounting cycle constitutes a fundamental part of the role, covering processes such as customer and supplier invoicing, bank account reconciliations, calculation of asset amortizations, recording of provisions, and proper treatment of accrued and deferred expenses and revenues. Additionally, the incumbent must prepare and supervise compliance with all tax obligations, including VAT returns, Corporate Income Tax, withholding taxes, and other locally applicable taxes. Another key area of responsibility is the preparation of detailed financial reports—such as balance sheets and profit-and-loss statements—that support executive decision-making. The professional will also coordinate the annual external audits, serving as the primary liaison with auditors and tax advisors. Finally, the individual is expected to provide support and guidance to the assigned accounting team, fostering a collaborative work environment focused on operational excellence. The company offers an indefinite-term employment contract directly with the organization. The gross annual remuneration ranges between €30,000 and €35,000. The office is located in a central area of Madrid, specifically in the Velázquez district, with excellent transport connections. Working hours are from Monday to Thursday with flexible start times and an effective working day of eight and a half hours; on Fridays, the working day is reduced to six hours. An intensive working schedule applies to all staff during the month of August. A university degree in Business Administration and Management, Economics, Finance, or related fields obtained in Spain is required. A minimum of three to seven years’ experience in accounting roles is essential, with direct responsibility for fiscal and accounting closing processes under the Spanish General Accounting Plan. Prior experience in managing or supervising the accounting function for corporate groups will be considered a strong advantage. Proficiency in Sage software is highly desirable, as is an advanced level of Microsoft Excel usage. The ideal candidate is autonomous, analytical, methodical, and proactive in proposing improvements to existing processes.
